Privacy policy

The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we do not sell your data, and your videos are private by default.
Who we are
Montra Video is operated by Montra Interactive Inc., the controller of your personal data. Contact us at hello@montra.video.
What we collect
Your account details (name, email), the content you upload (videos, comments, recordings, notes), and usage data, including session recordings. A spoken review’s recording is kept only until its notes are published or discarded, then deleted; the words stay as comments and a transcript. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never reach us.
How it is used
To run the product: storing and streaming your media, delivering share links, sending sign-in emails, and powering AI features you invoke, which process your video and notes to draft comments, transcripts, and messages. Our AI providers do not train their models on your content. We use trusted processors for hosting, media delivery, email, AI, payments, error monitoring, product analytics, and the website and Instagram lookups you ask for, and share only what those features need. Integrations you connect, such as Slack, receive what you send them. Basis: our agreement with you, for which your account details and content are needed. We make no decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Where it is processed
We and our processors are mainly in the United States, so your data is processed there. Transfers from the EU, UK and Switzerland rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and their UK and Swiss equivalents.
Who can see your work
Only you, your workspace members, and the people you share a link with. Public links are open to anyone who has the URL, and you can turn them off at any time. A workspace’s admins control its content, and we process it on their behalf; we may refer requests about it to them. We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, but no system is perfectly secure.
Advertising measurement
If you arrive from a Meta or ChatGPT ad, we keep that ad’s click identifier for 90 days and report two events to the platform from our servers: a verified signup and a first paid plan. A report carries your hashed email and account id, the click identifier, landing page, IP address and browser, and the plan and price. Never your content. Recipients: Meta Platforms and OpenAI. Basis: our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising. Opt out of this sharing at /privacy-choices (we also honor the Global Privacy Control signal), or email us to have the click record deleted. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals.
Product analytics
An analytics provider records, on our behalf, how the product is used: pages visited, clicks, device, browser, IP address and approximate location, and session recordings, which can include anything shown or typed on the page except passwords and sign-up codes. It is linked to your account when you are signed in and uses a cookie to recognise your browser. Basis: our legitimate interest in improving the product. The advertising opt-out does not cover this.
How long we keep it
Your account and content for as long as your account exists. Deleting a video, version or comment removes it and its media; ask us to delete your account and we delete the rest within one month, keeping only the billing records tax law requires. Session recordings are kept for 30 days and ad click identifiers for 90.
Your rights
You can access, correct, delete or export your data, and restrict or object to our processing of it, including anything we do on the basis of legitimate interest. California residents can also ask what we collect and opt out of its sale or sharing; we will not treat you differently for using these rights. We verify requests through your account’s email address and accept them from an authorized agent with your written permission, which we may confirm with you. We answer within one month; to appeal a refusal, reply to our answer. You can also complain to your data protection authority or attorney general.
In California’s terms we collect identifiers (account details, IP address), internet activity (usage data), approximate geolocation, audio and visual information (your content) and commercial information (your plan), from you, your device, your collaborators and services you connect. In the past 12 months we sold none of it and shared only identifiers, internet activity and commercial information, with Meta and OpenAI for advertising measurement. The only sensitive information we collect is your login credentials, used only to sign you in and not to infer anything about you.
Children
Montra Video is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data or knowingly sell or share the data of anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We announce material changes by email or in the product before they take effect, and update the date above.
